Berlin, April 16, 2026 – Payment and software provider Unzer has been awarded two internationally recognized ISO certifications. The company has been certified under ISO 37301 for its compliance management system and ISO 27001 for its information security management system. These certifications confirm that Unzer manages its processes in a structured way and protects sensitive data through established security measures.
Compliance firmly embedded in the organization
ISO 37301 is considered the international benchmark for effective compliance frameworks. It defines how companies adhere to laws and internal policies, identify risks, and ensure responsible conduct.
With this certification, Unzer is now making its commitment to compliance visible externally. High standards and the continuous development of internal processes have long been part of Unzer’s core philosophy, regardless of formal certification.
“Compliance for us is not just a formal process; it is part of our day-to-day operations,” says Max Steiger, Chief Compliance and Governance Officer at Unzer. “The successful audit confirms that our structures are effective and embraced across the entire organization.”
Information security builds trust in payments
In addition, Unzer has received the internationally recognized ISO 27001 certification for information security. This standard outlines how companies protect their systems, data, and processes against cyberattacks, data loss, and unauthorized access. It includes clearly defined responsibilities, documented processes, and regular risk assessments. The goal is to identify threats early and continuously improve system security.
“As a regulated payment service provider, we handle highly sensitive data every day. That’s why information security is our top priority,” says Thorben Fritsche, Chief Information Security Officer at Unzer. “With ISO 27001 certification, we demonstrate to our customers and partners that they can rely on our security standards.”
Going forward, Unzer will undergo regular audits, continuously demonstrating that it meets the requirements not only in day-to-day operations but also as its systems evolve. “These certifications are not a one-time achievement,” Steiger emphasizes, who oversees both areas within the group. “They commit us to consistently uphold our high standards in compliance and information security and to embed them across all areas of the organization.”
